At around 07:15 on the 17th, a man in his 60s in Ato Jifuku, Yamaguchi City, spotted a bear climbing a tree and eating persimmons; the bear was about 80 cm long. No injuries were reported; the site is about 800 meters east of JR Jifuku Station, and police are patrolling the area and warning residents.
