At Asa Zoological Park in Hiroshima, part of the west area was closed on December 16, 2025, after a black bear was sighted there, and the park said that section would reopen on December 19. Earlier in December, bears were also reported in Toyama district, Yamamoto cho, Hiroshima Koiosako 3 chome, and Hiroshima Ushitawaseda 2 chome, showing that the activity has been brushing up against homes and public places as well as park land.
Most of the activity has centered in Hiroshima City, especially Asaminami Ward, where repeated reports have come from Kamiyasu 7 chome, Numata, and nearby neighborhoods. The pace has been heaviest in November and December, with 6 incidents in November 2025 and 5 in December 2025, and the area has logged 16 black bear sightings overall.
