At around 22:00 on May 6, a black bear about 1 meter long was seen crossing the road at the intersection in front of a shopping mall in Kamiyatagari, Izumi Ward, Sendai, and another report the same night placed a bear near the Sendai North Ring Road in the same area. On the same stretch of recent evenings, bears were also reported in Moniwa Hitokurita Higashi, Taihaku Ward, Sendai, and in Nishikigaoka 9 chome, Aoba Ward, Sendai, showing that the city edges around Sendai are where the most immediate activity is being felt.

The broader pattern still centers on Sendai, especially Izumi Ward, Aoba Ward, and Taihaku Ward, with reports clustering around roads, intersections, and green strips at night. Activity was busiest in October 2025 with 489 incidents and November 2025 with 395, then stayed active through December 2025 with 118 and January 2026 with 47, before rising again in April 2026 with 48 sightings; this area has now recorded 2,735 black bear sightings overall.
