A village Industry Promotion Department staff member, on patrol in a government car, sighted one Asiatic black bear in a field behind a chicken coop. Because of sunset it was dark, so body length and direction of escape are unknown. It was about 100 m from nearby houses.

It then moved west along the Ozawata-Obayashi Line for about 100 m and disappeared into a thicket to the north. About 30 m to the nearest houses.
