An elderly man believed to be an 85-year-old who had gone out to gather wild vegetables was found dead in a stream in Kotonasezawa (Kotsunagisawa), Nishiwaga Town, Iwate Prefecture on the morning of May 20. The body showed severe injuries, including scratches and torn clothing on the head and upper body, and a single bear was spotted near the scene, so police suspect a bear attack and are investigating.
