While working a ball-collection part-time job at Nashi no Ki Golf Garden, I witnessed a small bear cross right in front of me. It happened last Thursday. In the past I’ve repeatedly heard small bears crying around the same time of day. I tried to post about this several times, but it didn’t seem to go through, so although some time has passed since the sighting, I’m trying again.

Around 16:00 on May 7, bear-like footprints were found in Saihatake (幸畑), Aomori City. No damage has been confirmed; the site is southeast of the Hakkoda Mountain Snow March Disaster Museum, and the city is urging nearby residents and passersby to be cautious.

Around 20:30 on December 2 a single bear-like animal about 50 cm long was sighted in a rice field east of the Aomori Prefectural School Education Center in Oyazawa (Noda), Aomori City. No injuries or damage were reported; the city urges people to report sightings or tracks and not to leave kitchen waste outdoors.

Aomori City reported that an animal believed to be a bear was sighted in a rice field east of the Prefectural Comprehensive School Education Center area in Oyasawa Noda on the evening of December 2 at around 8:30 PM. The witness was a passing motorist; the animal was about 50 cm long and this was the first bear-related sighting in the area this season.
