At around 11:40 a.m. on the 21st, a woman at the Mount Shinobu parking lot in Oyama (Hayama), Fukushima City, observed a single bear-like animal about 50 cm long crossing a mountain path. According to the Fukushima Police, the animal left toward the woods to the north.

On the morning of the 29th, a single adult bear estimated at about 1.5 m in length was repeatedly sighted in central Fukushima City around Moriai Maeda and Soneda. Police and city officials are patrolling the area and no injuries have been reported.
