Between the night of April 13, 2026 and shortly after 13:00 on April 14, there were a total of 10 bear sightings in the Araya area of Akita City; on the morning of the 14th a single bear about 1 meter long was confirmed in Araya Kurita-machi. The surrounding area has dense undergrowth and poor visibility, residents expressed anxiety, and nearby Nisshin Elementary School asked parents to pick up their children at dismissal.
