A hiker reported sighting a bear-like animal near Suidoyama Park in Miyamotocho, Kiryu City on December 26. In response, the city announced the cancellation of the New Year's Day amazake distribution event planned at Suidoyama Park on January 1.

Around 06:40 on the 20th, a single bear cub was sighted south of JR Kiryu Station in Tomoe-cho, Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture. The bear was seen near Nishiki-cho and then fled into the riverside brush near the Watarase River soccer field "Sakura Yuen", where its whereabouts became unknown.

At 06:40 on November 20, 2025, a passerby sighted a bear cub near the south exit of JR Kiryu Station in Tomoe-cho, Kiryu City. Similar sightings have been reported repeatedly in the urban area along the Watarase River.
