It appeared to be eating something near a stand of bamboo grass.

It was in the bamboo grass beside the rice field, seemingly eating new shoots and the like. It walked along the ridge path and went down toward the river.

[Posted] It was in the rice field. I checked with binoculars; it was quite large, about 130–140 cm.
