On Tuesday, March 31 at approximately 11:21 a.m., in the Yabuchi area within Mt. Yamagata, Inawashiro Town, a witness traveling by vehicle on National Route 49 from Aizuwakamatsu toward Koriyama observed a bear (about 60 cm in body length) sitting in the brush on the right side.

Around 16:00 on the 20th, a woman driving on a road in Kawachi, Ouse-machi, Koriyama City (Fukushima) saw one bear cross directly in front of her vehicle. The bear entered the roadside brush; no damage has been reported, and police are patrolling and warning residents.

Just after noon on November 5 a bear about 1 meter long was seen climbing a persimmon tree and eating fruit in Atami, Kōriyama. No damage has been reported; police carried out patrols and public notices and informed Kōriyama City Hall.
