Around 15:00 on May 12, 2026, two bears were filmed about 300 meters from the Goshogake parking lot public toilet in Hachimantai. They were observed climbing trees to eat new shoots, and an individual believed to be a male approached one believed to be a female.

On the national road, body length about 70 cm, about 600 m from houses. While driving on the national road, a bear emerged from the western woods, collided with the car, then returned to the western woods. The observer was about 1 m away.

While driving from the Kazuno area toward the Hachimantai summit, a bear appeared from the roadside grass on the right. When the car approached, it drew back. There are chestnut and walnut trees nearby with fruits on the road. The full body size is not visible; length unknown, but likely a subadult.
