At around 06:45 on April 6, 2026, a driver spotted a single bear about 1 meter long crossing National Route 121 from west to east in Minamiaizu Town (Itosawa, Shishiochiyama). No human or property damage has been reported; police are monitoring the area and have informed the town office.

At around 00:05 on November 17, 2025, a driver on Route 289 in Harinu, Minamiaizu Town, spotted a single bear approximately 1.5 meters long at the roadside. The bear entered the forest afterwards; no injuries or property damage have been reported. Police have provided information to the town and are conducting patrols in the area.
