Around 14:00 on May 20 in Susono City, Shizuoka Prefecture, tourists filmed a bear near the parking area in Suyama Jurigi. The city decided to temporarily close the parking area and reported that at about 18:30 and 18:50 the same day drivers near a villa area about 2 km away also saw an animal believed to be a bear; authorities advised carrying noise-making devices such as bells or radios.

On May 12 Susono City reported that a single bear was sighted near Uma-no-se / Miharashidai along the Echizen-dake trail in Suyama-Jurigi. No damage was confirmed; the city is posting information on its website and warning hikers to be cautious.

At around 16:10 on November 21, 2025, an animal believed to be a bear was sighted on National Route 469 in Suyama, Susono City, about 100 m south of the Jurigi-Minami intersection. The city advised residents to take precautions such as carrying bells or radios when passing the area and to contact the agricultural and forestry promotion division if they see the bear.
