Mt. Kasatori

Encountered one adult bear on the mountain trail about 500 m from Sakubadahira parking lot.

About 15 minutes after beginning the descent from Kasatori Hut toward the water source, we encountered what appeared to be a cub. The bear does not appear in the photograph. It was in the area beyond the photo where the sasa (bamboo grass) grows tall. We were walking in a group of four and ringing a bear bell; the bear noticed us first and ran off to the south.
