On May 19 at around 13:00 in Nippara, Okutama Town, Tokyo, officers from the Ome Police Station found a body of unknown age and sex. The upper body was missing and multiple footprints believed to be from a large animal were found nearby; the police suspect the person may have been attacked by a bear or other animal and are proceeding with identification.

On May 17 at around 11:55, a man in his 30s of Russian nationality was attacked by an adult Asiatic black bear on Mt. Minokido (Sannokido) in Okutama-machi, Tokyo, sustaining serious injuries to his face and arms. He was airlifted by a fire department helicopter to a hospital in Hachioji and is not in life-threatening condition; he was hiking alone without a bear bell and the bear fled immediately after the attack.

At around 13:50 on December 30, 2025, on the Ogawatani forest road in Nippara, Okutama (Tokyo), a hiker reported a body missing internal organs; police found a severely damaged body on the road.
