After being sighted, the bear entered the forest and its subsequent movements are unknown.

On Sunday, June 28 at approximately 3:40 p.m., on the Ouchi–Aizu-Takada prefectural road in Ouchi Yaku-mizu area, Shimogō Town, a witness (woman in her 70s) saw a single bear (about 1 m in body length) sitting on the road while driving. The bear then left toward the woods to the north.

The bear’s subsequent movements are unknown.

The bear attempted to climb the rockfall-prevention wire mesh but noticed the approaching vehicle and returned to the forest.
