A juvenile bear (70–80 cm long, about 20 kg) that had been staying since the 6th in a warehouse near a cowshed in Hoshizawa, Hachimantai City, was caught in a trap at around 08:40 on the 7th. There were no injuries or property damage.

At around 06:15 on November 12, 2025, a 47-year-old man walking his dog in Noda, Hachimantai, Iwate, encountered two bears believed to be a mother and cub; the adult bear scratched his head and arms and he was taken to hospital. The man was able to speak and was not in life-threatening condition, and the dog was unharmed.

On the evening of February 6, 2025, a single bear was found inside a warehouse near a cowshed in Hoshizawa, Hachimantai City, appearing to be asleep on sawdust on the floor. The city set traps nearby, and the bear was captured in a trap the next morning (Feb 7) and subsequently euthanized.
