Around 11:21 on March 31, a driver traveling on Route 49 from Aizuwakamatsu toward Koriyama spotted a roughly 60 cm long bear sitting in Yamagata Aza Sorakubo, Inawashiro Town. No human or property damage was reported; police are patrolling the area and urging caution.

Around 16:20 on March 30, a driver spotted a roughly 1-meter-long bear on the riverbed south of Route 49 in Inawashiro Town, Yamagata Shinden area. No human or property damage was reported; police are patrolling and urging nearby residents to be cautious.

Multiple bear sightings occurred in Inawashiro on the same day. At about 10:45 a.m., a roughly 1.0 m bear was seen in a paddy field in Yamagata Shimoyashiki (north of the JR Ban'etsu West Line), and around 6:00 p.m. two bears of about 60 cm each were observed on and at the base of a chestnut tree on a residential property in Mitsuwa; no human injuries were reported and police conducted patrols and public warnings.

Between March 25 and 27, bears were sighted at several locations in Inawashiro Town, Fukushima Prefecture. A roughly 0.3 m individual was seen in a fallow field at Hachiman Kubohata, an about 1 m individual was seen in a paddy at Yamagata, and two roughly 60 cm bears were observed in a chestnut tree on a residential property in Mitsuwa; no human injuries were reported.

Just after noon on November 5 a bear about 1 meter long was seen climbing a persimmon tree and eating fruit in Atami, Kōriyama. No damage has been reported; police carried out patrols and public notices and informed Kōriyama City Hall.
