The man ran into a nearby pharmacy, where the shopkeeper gave first aid and called emergency services (119).

He drove himself to a nearby shop to seek help and was airlifted by doctor helicopter to a hospital in Akita City. Police patroled the area near Higashiyuri Elementary School, which restricted outdoor activities and held PE indoors, and Yurihonjo City set two box traps near the incident site.
