Around 16:00 on May 6, 2026, a man in his 60s at home spotted a bear about 1 meter long beside a waterway in Jinguji, Daisen City, Akita Prefecture. According to Daisen police, the nearest house was about 10 meters away; they are patrolling the area with patrol cars and warning residents to be cautious.
