Ue Myoujin Yama

In September 2023, near Hayasaka Plateau in Iwaizumi Town, Iwate Prefecture, Mr. Seishi Sato (59) encountered a cub in a tree and a mother bear while mushroom picking; the mother bear charged and attacked. He defended himself with a roughly 1.6-meter wooden stick, sustaining bites and scratches to his elbow and thigh, and the bear eventually left.
