On Wednesday, May 20 at approximately 8:40 a.m., in forested land at Fūfū (Kazefuki) area, Kumakura, Saigō Village, a woman driving a car witnessed a bear (about 1 m in length) entering the forest.

On March 25 (Wednesday) at approximately 5:53 p.m., on a road in Fubuki, Kumakura, Saigō Village, a witness (man in his 40s) driving on a village road spotted one animal resembling a bear (about 1 m in body length) crossing the road.

On March 25 at about 14:30, a single bear approximately 0.3 m long was seen running in a fallow field in Kubohata, Yahata, Inawashiro Town, and then entering the forest. Later the same day at about 17:53, a bear-like animal about 1 m long was observed crossing a village road in Kumakura, Fubuki, Nishigo Village.
