Enichi Tera ( Fukugen )

Around 16:40 on the 23rd, two bears were sighted near a persimmon tree by the roadside along the Inawashiro-Shiogawa prefectural route in Bandai Town. Their lengths were about 1 meter and about 50 cm; no injuries have been reported and police are urging caution.

At about 08:05 on November 16, in Bandai Town, Fukushima Prefecture, a man in his 80s removing an electric fence for nuisance animals on an agricultural road was attacked by a bear and sustained injuries to his head and right leg. Witnesses called 110 and shouted to drive the bear away; the man could speak but had difficulty walking and was taken to hospital.

Around 4:40 PM on October 29, in the south side of the Banetsu West Line woods in Bandai Town, a train driver operating toward Koriyama observed two bears (both about 70 cm) in the woods south of the tracks. The bears then left to the south into the mountain woods.

Around 6:09 p.m. on September 2, inside the JR Ban-etsu West Line track area in Kobetsu, Ban-etsu West Line train operators witnessed a bear (about 1 m long) moving toward Koriyama City. The bear then entered the shrubs to the east.
