In Hachinohe's Okubo, a bear was filmed shortly after 1:00 PM putting its paws on a fence along the grounds of a school. Between about 10:30 AM on April 28 and before 8:00 AM on April 29 there were five sightings in the Kanahama and Okubo areas; the prefecture has issued an Asiatic black bear advisory and urged people not to approach.

The city judged the situation dangerous, set new capture traps, is consulting with universities on countermeasures, and plans to conduct an emergency hunting drill later this month.
