Shortly after 02:00 on January 4, 2026, a single bear about 1 m long was sighted eating fallen persimmons on the grounds of a private residence in Shimodorigawa, Myoko City. Police responded and reported that the bear left for the mountains after a short time; authorities have notified the city and warned local residents.
