Before 11:00 AM, a bear about 0.7 m long was sighted in the grounds of a private residence in Nakaie, Uonuma City and seen in a persimmon tree. Local hunters and city staff confirmed it, and shortly before 11:30 AM the bear was euthanized under a municipality-authorized emergency shooting.
