On the morning of Jan 23, two bears were sighted in Tochigi Prefecture. At about 04:30 a.m., an approximately 80 cm bear was seen on the riverbed of the Iwakawa in Shidori, Nasukarasuyama City by a man driving to work. About 1.5 hours later, a nearby woman reported a cub (about 50 cm, with a white patch on its chest) behind her house in a woodland in Nasushiobara City. No injuries were reported and police are patrolling the areas.
