Around 1:39 p.m. on June 16, in the Nanzo area of Nishi-Aizu Town, a Nexco maintenance worker observed a bear about 50 cm crossing the north side of the Ban-etsu Expressway from the slope to the main line heading south. The bear entered the south hillside forest; subsequent movement is unknown.
