At around 04:40 on the 10th, a passenger car on a municipal road in Unzen Kamimachiya, Kakunodate, Semboku City, collided with a bear (about 1 meter long) that jumped out from the right. The male driver in his 30s was uninjured; later that day at 10:20 a.m. hospital staff spotted a bear (about 50 cm) on the grounds of Kakunodate General Hospital, and police notified relevant agencies and began patrols.
