Around noon on November 5, 2025, a single bear about 60 cm long was seen on the grounds of a residence in Nakamichi, Odate City, Akita Prefecture. The city set a box trap and captured the bear at about 6:30 a.m. on the 6th; the site is about 600 meters south of JR Odate Station in a residential and commercial area, and four sightings were reported in the area on the 5th, prompting police to restrict roads and stand guard.
