Around 07:15 on December 4, 2025, in Hata-cho, Masuda City, a man in his 70s was attacked by an Asian black bear and sustained injuries under his left eye and on the back of his right hand. He is not in life-threatening condition; the bear (about 1 m long, 70–80 kg) is believed to have fled toward the mountains.
