Actress Leona Hirota reported that at her newly moved-in home in Nasu, Tochigi, something was seen about 3 meters from a window on a night in late July after her dog barked. The next morning her garden beds were trampled; the hunters identified the animal as a bear about 80 cm, and the animal has since been seen repeatedly between around 1:00 and 2:00 a.m. The police response was limited because there was no damage reported.
