Around 20:00 on April 24, 2026, a single bear approximately 100 cm or more in length was sighted along Prefectural Route Yamato-Yakino Line in the Hiwatashi area of Tokamachi. The city warns residents to avoid woods and grassy thickets, carry noise makers or bear spray, and properly dispose of fruit and food waste.
