At around 08:15 on May 20, 2026, a man in a car witnessed a bear about 1 meter long crossing National Route 490 in Ono, Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, roughly 3 meters ahead of his vehicle. There was no collision or injuries; police urged caution in the area.
