Around 6:20 a.m. on Sept 6, 2024, a bear about 60 cm long sighted near the Kawamoto Prefectural Joint Government Building in Kawamoto Town. No injuries. This was the third consecutive day of sightings at the site. A male security guard spotted a bear climbing a walnut tree; it then fled into the mountains.
