Kamikoani’s most recent sharp alert came on April 24, 2026, when a resident in Okitaomote spotted a black bear about 1.5 m long inside the settlement, and the direction it left afterward was unknown. Earlier that same morning in Fukudate, staff near the communal lodging and exchange facility Coanity and the Kamikoani nursery area saw another bear about 1 m long, and a separate sighting near the village cemetery by Kamikoani Elementary and Junior High School added to the morning activity there.

Most of the trouble is centered in Fukudate, with other repeated reports coming from Obayashi, Sugihana, and Odaase, where bears have been seen in rice fields, near roads, and close to houses. Activity has peaked in October with 38 reports, then July with 16, and August with 14, while the area has recorded 136 black bear sightings in all.

11月に入ってからも民家すぐ近くで連日出没してるから、この村はよほどクマが居着きやすい環境なんだろうな。
