Mount Ryōkami has recently seen a black bear near Ogano San yama in Miyama, Ogano Town at about 18:30 on April 28, 2026, when a young animal estimated at about 80 cm long was sighted near Route 299 and nearby temples and shrines. Earlier in March 2026, another bear was reported in Otaki, Chichibu City, including a sighting near the Takizawa Dam management office at about 23:50 on March 12, showing that bears are still moving through the Chichibu side of the mountain area.

The most active places in this record are around Ogano Town and Otaki, Chichibu City, especially the Ryokami Komoriyamada Okubo area and the Takizawa Dam side, where tracks and sightings have both turned up. Activity has been heaviest in October 2025 with 12 incidents and December 2025 with 10, and the area has recorded 126 black bear sightings overall.
