Yasugi’s most recent black bear report came at around 5:30 a.m. on April 24, 2026, when a juvenile bear about 50 cm long was seen near Tenmangu Shrine in Ijiri, Hakuta cho. Another bear had already been spotted nearby on April 21, 2026, around 10:30 a.m., on a municipal road near Hiba yama Kume Shrine in Yokoya, Hakuta cho, and that one was described as an adult about 70 to 80 cm long.

The activity around Yasugi has been strongest in Hakuta cho and Hirose cho, with repeated reports in Ijiri, Mori, Hinami, Okutawara, Kajifukutome, and Fube. Sightings have also clustered in July 2025 and August 2025, when reports were busiest, while March 2026 and November 2025 still brought new sightings, and the area has recorded 20 black bear sightings overall.
