At around 00:40 on December 31, 2025, one bear was sighted on a road in the Katayachi area of Yamagata City (about 50 meters east of Zaō Ekimae Dai-ichi Park). Bears were also sighted in Katayachi on December 23, 26, and 27, and the city is urging caution.
