Around 7:30 AM on October 22, in Numata, Aizu Misato Town, two elderly residents (an 80-year-old woman and an 80-year-old man) were attacked by a bear and injured. The woman encountered a bear about 1 m long as she went outside to take out trash at the home entrance, injuring her face, and when the man emerged after hearing her shout, he was also injured. The bear fled to the south into the mountains. They were transported to a hospital in Aizu-Wakamatsu City; their lives are not in danger.
