The bear was estimated at about 1.5–2.0 meters in length; there were no injuries, but footprints believed to be from a brown bear were found nearby. At around 11:35 on November 12, 2025, a male brown bear was caught in a box trap on the grounds of Maruyama Zoo in Sapporo's Chuo Ward and was culled. The bear measured about 113 cm in length with a front paw width of about 11 cm and is believed to be the same individual that had been seen and left tracks around the zoo since November 9.
