According to police, on the evening of May 10, 2026, multiple bear sightings were reported on the Namie–Kashima prefectural road in Kamikitakahira, Haramachi Ward, Minamisoma City. Around 17:40 a male driver saw a roughly 1-meter-long bear in the woods, and about 20 minutes later a female driver reported another sighting; police have stepped up patrols.
