Honsha Ke Maru

From the hiking trail beside the old Koshu-kaido Sasago Tunnel, near Sasago Pass on the trail toward Mt. Sasago Karigaharasuri, I encountered a cub about 50 cm long approximately 50 meters ahead of my position. The cub ran up the slope on the left side of the trail, toward the Enzan side, from Sasago Pass and disappeared. I watched the same spot for about five minutes but did not see any adult bear.

On the morning of November 6, 2025, two bear sightings were reported in Fujikawaguchiko Town, Yamanashi Prefecture. At around 05:20 a bear about 1.0 m long was seen standing on the roadside near the Fujimi Bridge observatory on National Route 137 in the Kawaguchi district, and at around 07:10 a smaller bear was observed crossing a road near the Fujigane area via a vehicle's rearview mirror. The town issued warnings over disaster radio and notified the police and hunters' association.
