On the night of May 6, 2026, two residents in a residential area of Nishigamo, Kita Ward, Kyoto City reported to the Kita Police Station and the ward office that they saw one young bear-like animal around 8:00 PM. The site was a field west of the Nishigamo city bus garage, and the ward office put up warning signs on the morning of the 7th.

Around 06:00 on December 1, 2025, a male passerby reported seeing a dark bear-like animal on the riverbank in Kagamiishi-cho, Kinugasa, Kita Ward, Kyoto, to the Kita Police Station. Officers checked the scene but did not find the bear and are urging caution.

At around 11:00 on the 20th, bear tracks about 25 cm long and 20 cm wide were confirmed on the grounds of a private house in Nishigamo Shimoshodacho, Kita Ward, Kyoto. Earlier the same day at about 9:50 a 110 call reported a "black animal like a bear" in shrubs in the Omiya Shakagatani residential area; officials checked the site but did not find the animal.

Around 09:50 on November 20, 2025, a bear-like black animal was sighted in the bushes and a path/empty lot in a residential area of Omiya Shakagatani, Kita Ward, Kyoto. Ward staff and police checked the site but did not find the animal; warning signs were posted and residents were advised to be cautious.

At around 07:40 on November 19, 2025, something believed to be a bear was sighted on the Takano River riverbank in Matsugasaki, Sakyo Ward (about 50 meters upstream from Kitaizumi Bridge). Nearby elementary schools implemented accompanied group dismissals and asked parents to pick up students, urged restraint on nonessential after-school outings, and classes continued as usual.

Nearby elementary schools requested parents pick up students, conducted escorted group dismissals, and urged children to refrain from nonessential outings after school.
