On May 6, 2026 at about 13:10, a bear was sighted in Numadate Ryokuchi Park in Numadate 4-chome, Hachinohe. The bear moved to the premises of the city sewerage office, and with the mayor's authorization for shooting, hunters culled a female Asian black bear about 1.0 m long at around 15:50 the same day (the first emergency shooting in Aomori Prefecture).

At about 18:15 on March 10, 2026, two animals believed to be bears were sighted near Kawaramoki River area in Hachinohe City. The sighting occurred roughly 200 meters downstream from the Numadate-side of the Shin-Ohashi bridge over the Mabuchi River.
