On May 6, 2026 at about 13:10, a bear was sighted in Numadate Ryokuchi Park in Numadate 4-chome, Hachinohe. The bear moved to the premises of the city sewerage office, and with the mayor's authorization for shooting, hunters culled a female Asian black bear about 1.0 m long at around 15:50 the same day (the first emergency shooting in Aomori Prefecture).
