Around 08:00 on December 18, a bear approximately 60 cm long was spotted in a persimmon tree about 10 meters high on a residential property in Kitashiobara Village, Fukushima. About seven hours later in the afternoon it was captured with a tranquilizer gun and subsequently euthanized; no damage to people or property was reported.
