According to police, at around 17:35 on May 12, 2026, a resident sighted a single bear about 1 meter long crossing a road in Nobirugaoka 1-chome, Higashimatsushima. The bear emerged from woodland to the north, crossed a municipal road near 'Sato no Koen Higashi', then left toward the southern woodland; the site is about 300 m north of JR Nobiru Station near residential areas, and police are patrolling and warning residents.
