Around 16:00 on November 26 a single brown bear about 1.5 meters long emerged from a forest onto a municipal road in 6-chome, Nagashibetsu-cho, Monbetsu City, crossed the road and left toward another forest. A driver who saw the bear was not injured; police said they will continue to keep watch because Nagashibetsu Junior High School is about 500 meters away.
